Department of Modern Languages

Through courses in Arabic, 中国人, 法国, 德国, 意大利, 日本, 朝鲜文, Latin and Spanish, students of 校本’s Modern Languages department learn how to interact with people across the globe. This department aims to provide the highest quality instruction while preparing students for life, leadership and careers in a changing, multicultural world.

学生 will learn to communicate effectively, use ethical decision-making skills to evaluate the consequences of personal behavior, think critically and creatively, and understand the ways humans have been influenced by culture, religious and ethnic traditions. Language courses are designed to develop skills in listening comprehension, 说话, reading and writing, and greater cultural sensitivity. 学生 come to understand how to control grammar and vocabulary and demonstrate overall proficiency. They learn under instruction of exceptional faculty with deep expertise in areas including 语言 acquisition, 语言学, 语言, popular culture and literature.

Additionally, with 校本’s two campuses in Mexico, 校本-Strasbourg in France and more than 140 出国留学 locations in six continents, students have ample opportunity to 出国留学 and immerse themselves in the culture and 语言 they are studying.

The department also introduces international 语言s and culture to the University community through special events and tertulias (informal conversation groups), guest lectures and interactive experiences, such as an el Día de los Muertos community altar.
